Meals on Wheels Program

Meals on Wheels is a program housed in the RSVP office. The goal is to provide a hot, well balanced meal to elderly and homebound persons in Barton County. Meals are distributed at noon daily including weekends in Great Bend and Hoisington, and Monday - Friday in Ellinwood. Frozen meals may be delivered for weekends and for those persons living outside the city limilts of these three cities. The meals are picked up from 11:00 to 11:15 in three communities in Barton County. It takes an hour or less to deliver the meals and to return the trays to the hospital.

Volunteers Needed

Meals on Wheels in Great Bend and Hoisington are delivered 7 days a week and in Ellinwood five days a week. Each weekday, at least 15 volunteers are needed to deliver a meal route in Great Bend, Hoisington or Ellinwood. Weekend volunteers are needed in Hoisington and Great Bend. Great Bend churches assist with weekend delivery, however other organizations are needed for some months.
